Veda Foundation

A non-profit charitable trust promoting Krishna Consciousness

As part of his contribution to Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON and the sankirtana movement, in 1996 HH Bhakti Charu Swami established Veda Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust. The aim of Veda Foundation is to develop numerous sustainable, financially independent, international projects to distribute Krishna consciousness whilst providing service opportunities for working devotees. Maharaja established Veda Foundation branches and companies around the world in USA, India, South Africa, UK and Europe.

The first and most ambitious project Maharaja embarked upon with Veda Foundation was the production of Abhay Charan – the epic video serial on the life of Srila Prabhupada. After completing his service of translating all of Srila Prabhupada’s works into the Bengali language in 1996, Maharaja felt he was rewarded with the Abhay Charan film project, to further spread Srila Prabhupada’s glories. To enhance production quality and efficiency, Maharaja established a professional film recording and editing studio in the location of Mumbai’s commercial film industry.

Maharaja also established Divine Foods, a facility in Durham, North Carolina, USA, producing a wide range of high-quality natural energy bars. The aim of the project was large scale prasadam distribution. Maharaja personally designed the packaging for the popular ‘Rama Bars.’

Profits from the Divine Foods project in USA were used in Veda Foundation India, where Maharaja set up projects to feed hungry school children and cultivate ISKCON Life Members in Kolkatta.

In 1999 Maharaja’s disciple Jamuna Dasa, offered his large chemical factory in Durban, South Africa to Veda Foundation. Kwa-Zulu-Natal Industrial Chemicals became Veda Foundation – Divine Clean,’ manufacturing 25 varieties of detergents, soaps and cleaning products.

Later in 2004 when Maharaja built a new ISKCON temple in Ujjain, Veda Foundation continued large scale prasadam distribution through the Midday Meal Programme feeding 30,000 school children daily within Madhya Pradesh, India.

In 2018, under Veda Foundation, Maharaja established a temple and farm community in Deland, Florida USA. The centre promotes Vedic culture and cow protection. From the Deland centre Maharaja began prasada distribution to local surrounding towns through Divine Foods Vans.
